either the default MBR in the Ventoy GUI and changing over to GPT in the Ventoy GUI both work on both computers as, obviously, I can only select standard Legacy BIOS booting on the old computer (which I had since March 2006) using F8 at BIOS screen and it seems okay as it boots to Ventoy fine and even loaded Clonezilla as a quick test and on the HP2000 laptop when pressing F9 and it brings up the boot menu at which point I can select UEFI or legacy BIOS boot options and both work. using the Ventoy GUI in browser, MBR and GPT both work) work okay on my test computers as one has UEFI (HP2000 laptop) and the other is a old computer (ASUS A8N32-SLI) with only Legacy BIOS booting. but I am going to play around with this stuff to see what I can figure out and then EDIT this post again.ĮDIT #3: after playing with it some more. but at least on two computers I tested, I could still boot UEFI or Legacy BIOS and it was only 1 partition visible on the USB stick which I would probably prefer to the two partition setup. I noticed when using their 'GPT' in the menu it does create two partitions that is shown in the file manager (from the USB stick with 'VTOYEFI' and 'Ventoy') where as when I did the way in my initial post through the "sudo sh Ventoy2Disk.sh -i /dev/sdx" etc commands it did not do that but I suspect it's because it's using 'MBR' and not 'GPT'. but if by some chance that acts up, you can try what I posted.ĮDIT #2 I am currently testing stuff.

click Pierre's 2nd link and scroll down to "Method 2: Create bootable Windows 10 USB using Ventoy" as if you prefer a GUI you can just use that instead of the step-by-step I did in my initial link in this post.

but the end result should be pretty much the same though NOTE: come to think of it, I may consider updating that first link (which is a post I typed up a while ago with a step-by-step process to install Ventoy (and even the Update command)) with that 'alternative' GUI method to install Ventoy which appears to be easier than what I was doing and will likely be easier for the common person to do since I can probably tweak things a little in my step-by-step process to suit Linux Mint but basically keep the general stuff of that articles link to.īottom line to the OP.

VentoyWeb.sh") where as I strictly just use the terminal commands (i.e. Ventoy works on both UEFI or Legacy BIOS.ĮDIT: I noticed the 2nd link that Pierre linked to also has Ventoy as a option but I see the way they install is a little different since their way is using more of a GUI to do it (i.e. Ventoy is probably the easiest way to create a multi-boot USB stick on Linux Mint for booting Win10 and Linux Mint etc from the same USB stick.

then reboot PC like usual, press whatever key you need to so that it allows you to boot to USB stick like usual, and the rest should be pretty straight forward. in short, once Ventoy is installed you simply copy/paste(or drag/drop) the Win10 ISO directly to the USB stick with Ventoy installed on it. That makes it so you can boot Windows 10 and Linux Mint from the same bootable USB stick. viewtopic.php?p=1952329#p1952329 ( EDIT(July 8th 2021): I just updated my post there to make it easier for people to install Ventoy using the GUI method as it's less commands typing into the command line.)
